Shipping Credits For you as an Amazon Seller Having Individual Seller Plan

Selling on Amazon is always profitable for e-retailers. Amazon has various selling plans viz Individual Selling Plan and Professional Selling Plan. The individual selling plan allows the sellers to pay the Amazon commission on the individual products sell while in the professional selling plan the sellers pay for the items selling in bulk. For the sellers having different selling plan, Amazon charges different shipping prices and credits the shipping profit depending on the items, category, selling plan, and the shipping method a seller adopts.

Being a seller, you need to ship the items to the concerned buyers. For shipping and order fulfillment, you either use your own warehouse and in-team or you can use Fulfilment By Amazon (FBA) where Amazon ships your inventories on behalf of you. Either of the shipping methods you choose, you can incur shipping charges to the buyers. Though sometimes during festive and holiday seasons sale the Amazon sellers offer the exclusive free shipping to the buyers under many deals and offer. But in other times, the products and items in the Amazon store include the shipping charges depending on the location. These shipping charges are incurred to customers while they buy the products from you.

As an ecommerce retailer, you would surely be having the shipping price strategy for the items you are selling on Amazon in which you have included your profit also. But, if not, then, read our blog on Points Not to be Missed while Making Shipping Strategy.

How Amazon pays its sellers for the shipping services?

  • Every time as a seller, you ship the products to the buyer’s destination, Amazon credits your account with the shipping credit.
  • This credit is the same as the buyer is charged as the shipping charges.

The table below shows the amount Amazon charges its buyers for shipping in the United States. The sellers receive the same amount as their shipping credit in their seller central account on Amazon.

Note that this credit is eligible for the sellers having individual selling plans only. The sellers having professional seller plan have different shipping credits plan.

Conclusion

Sometimes the shipping credits the seller gets are lesser than the actual shipping costs since Amazon has its standard rate for offering credit, we can’t change it.
But to balance the difference in the offset, you can set the price of the products or include higher shipping price to your product so that you could counterbalance investment and profit. For this, you should have an effective pricing strategy and time to time you need to revise it.
